Muscat – Jebel Shams

Day 1: Muscat City Tour

Itinerary:

• Pick-up Time: 8:00 AM from your hotel in Muscat.
• Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque: Begin your day with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. It is the only mosque in Oman that is open to non-Muslims. Explore the intricate designs and grand architecture of this iconic mosque.
• Muttrah Corniche & Muttrah Souq: Next, head to the Muttrah Corniche, a beautiful waterfront promenade. Take in the views of the sea and cruise ships docked at Mina Al Sultan Qaboos Port. Then, visit the Muttrah Souq, an iconic traditional market with a modern twist. You can shop for Omani specialties like Frankincense, Omani daggers, silver handicrafts, and scarves, and practice bargaining with local vendors. Your guide will assist you in getting the best price.
• Bait Al Zubair Museum: Next, visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum, which offers a rich insight into Oman's culture, heritage, and traditions.
• Al Alam Palace: Stop for a photo at the official residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, the Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by two 16th-century Portuguese forts: Mirani and Jalali.
• Qantab Region: Head to the Qantab region for a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Oman and enjoy a photo stop.
• Return to Hotel: After the city tour, return to your hotel for the evening.

Day 2: Jebel Shams – Misfah – Al Hamra

Itinerary:

• Pick-up Time: 8:30 AM from your hotel.
• Jebel Shams: After breakfast, drive towards Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest peak at 2,000 meters. Visit the Grand Canyon of Oman and spend the afternoon exploring this stunning canyon with panoramic views of the valleys and wadis below.
• Al Hamra: Next, drive down to Al Hamra, an ancient village with a fascinating history. Visit a traditional 7-bedroom house, where local Omani women will demonstrate how food, coffee, and pottery were made in the past.
• Misfah al Abreen: Continue your journey to Misfah al Abreen, a picturesque village located at the foot of Jebel Shams. Wander through the village with its narrow streets and historic homes. The village has an extensive Falaj system (ancient irrigation) that supports orchards, date palms, and vegetable gardens.
• Return to Muscat: After exploring Misfah al Abreen, begin your return journey to Muscat. Lunch will be served en route.
