Day 1
: Muscat – Nizwa – Bahla – Jabreen
• Morning:
o Depart from Muscat and head towards Nizwa, often regarded as Oman’s cultural capital. Here, you'll visit the Nizwa Fort, an impressive structure with a massive circular cannon tower. Explore the traditional Nizwa Souq, known for its vibrant atmosphere and local handicrafts.
o Continue your journey to Jabreen Castle, built in the 17th century, renowned for its beautiful plasterwork, carved doors, and painted wooden beams. It’s one of the most striking castles in Oman.
• Afternoon:
o Proceed to Bahla, one of Oman’s oldest towns. In the 12th century, it served as the capital of the local tribe. Although the monumental fort is closed for renovations, a photo stop will be made. Bahla is famous for its pottery, and you'll have the opportunity to visit a potter’s workshop (not available on Fridays and Public Holidays).
o Head to Al Hamra, an ancient village where 400-year-old mud houses are still in use. You'll also explore the Al Hamra Falaj system, which is a traditional irrigation system that has been vital to the region's agriculture.
• Evening:
o Return to Nizwa for an overnight stay.
