Turtle Beach & Desert Trip

Day 1: Muscat – Wahiba Sands – Wadi Bani Khalid – Turtle Beach

Itinerary:

• Pick-up Time: 8:30 AM from Muscat.
• Wahiba Sands: Your adventure begins as you depart for the Wahiba Sands, a vast desert stretching 200 km long and 100 km wide, with golden sand dunes running south from the Eastern Hajars to the Arabian Sea. Experience the thrill of dune bashing on the towering sand dunes and visit a local Bedouin house to enjoy traditional Omani Coffee. Camel rides are also available for a more authentic desert experience.
• Wadi Bani Khalid: Next, head to Wadi Bani Khalid, one of Oman’s most beautiful and pristine wadis. Known for its crystal-clear deep blue waters, it’s one of the few wadis in Oman that holds water all year round. The wadi sustains date palms through water sourced from mountain springs. Explore the rugged surroundings and the villages that cling to the mountainside.
• Lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch in Wadi Bani Khalid.
• Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve: After lunch, proceed to Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, where you will check-in at the hotel and have some time to relax.
• Turtle Watching: At 8:00 PM, meet with your guide who will take you to the beach to search for nesting turtles. While turtle sightings are very common, there are no guarantees. After the experience, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Sur – Sinkhole – Muscat

Itinerary:

• Breakfast: After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, get ready for the next part of your journey.
• Dhow Building Factory: Depart for Muscat via the coastal highway. Your first stop will be at a Dhow building factory in Sur, where traditional wooden Arabian dhows are built by hand, following methods passed down for centuries, with no reference drawings used.
• Lunch in Sur: Enjoy lunch in Sur, a coastal town with historical significance.
• Bimmah Sinkhole: Continue the journey towards the Bimmah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with inviting blue-green waters. Concrete steps lead down into the sinkhole, allowing you to swim in its refreshing waters.
• Return to Muscat: After visiting the sinkhole, drive back to Muscat, where you will arrive around 4:30 PM.
