Wadi Bani Awf & Nakhal Fort

Itinerary:

• 8:30 AM – Pick Up: You will be picked up from your hotel and start your journey towards Barka. From there, you will head inland to the Al Hajar Mountain Range.
• Wadi Bani Awf: Upon reaching the mountains, you will enter the famous Wadi Bani Awf. The gravel road leads you through this narrow Wadi, flanked by towering vertical walls. You’ll pass small villages and date plantations before reaching the end of the Wadi. You’ll have the chance to walk into the Wadi, which remains green in this area. If you’re lucky, you may find water pools where you can take a refreshing swim after a 15-minute walk.
• Picnic in the Wadi: After exploring, you’ll enjoy a relaxing picnic in the beautiful Wadi setting.
• Nakhal Fort: The next stop is Nakhal Fortress, located at the foothills of the mountains in a village surrounded by vast date plantations. This 350-year-old fortress stands tall above the village, showcasing its strength and history. It has witnessed many battles and features hidden escape routes and secret passages. You’ll explore the restored fortress and its rooms, decorated in the traditional style. The views from the top of the fortress are breathtaking, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and date plantations.
• Return to Muscat: After visiting the fortress, you will head back to Muscat. Lunch will be served during the journey.
